Good luck to you! Emergency Nursing is in my blood- I've done it for 25 years, got my NP to work in the ED, and now finishing my DNP to improve practice. I am active in ENA, and congratulate you on choosing a very worthwhile and rewarding career. Meg

Hi Kathryn. There was no identifying information of the patient and the nurse was not named. I was a student. The nurse whose name was mentioned was my instructor, not an employee of the hospital. There was no breach of confidentiality in this passage from my student nursing critical thinking journal. There isn't enough information to identify the patient. If there really is any breach of confidentiality anywhere in my site, please be specific - I will correct the situation. I also welcome any thoughts on totally removing my nursing notes and critical thinking journal entries. I welcome any and all comments like this. Thank you for your comment Kathryn. It's a healthy conversation to bring up confidentiality issues.

Personally, since this is posted on the web, and if it's a real patient (If not, should be stated) I would consider this a very real breach of confidentiality. All I'd have to do is search the nurse to find out his place of employment and I could find out who this patient was. Not very difficult.

Hello mike,

im browsing the net to look for a person like me who is a church leader and a nurse at the same time.i passed the local nursing board exam here in the philippines. its a real blessing sinz during the time of examination, the church had many problems. God really show His presence and power during the exam. but now i am really praying while i wait for the right time to work as a nurse. being a church leader and a beginner in a chosen career- its very hard to manage yourself.but thanks to GOD everyday HE gives me strength to fave the giants... Godbless

Mike, your talk reminded me of one of my students. I don't remember how we got on the topic, but it had something to do with religon. She said " I am not a religious person, I do not go to church, but I practice random acts of kindness everyday like paying the toll at the toll booth for the person behind me. I don't do it for the praise, I do it because it is the right thing to do." That spoke volumes to me about the human condition. Everyone does strive to help others in some way, and what made a connection for me was that she does these things not because some bible or gospel tells her to, she does it because it's the "right thing to do". That simple golden rule " Do unto others as you would have them do to you". Simplicity...that is what we need. Your talk reminded me of that conversation and I just thought you should know that you reach people with your blogs and you should keep on blogging.
Love and Light

Hi Michael,

I hope with a little time simplifying is feeling easier for you. I walk a thin line with my blog between reaching out to professionals--which leads to more productivity kind of talk--and reaching out to those who desire the solace of peace.

I've long felt that meditation is the primary means of touching in, on a regular basis, with my essence. And isn't that what simplifying is really about? Staying clear and true to what's important to you?

=) let it be easy,
Shawn
